I'm Patrick McNulty, and I am seeking re-election to continue the progress we've made on our Island. Since 2004, this Island has been my full-time home and the place where I own and run my businesses. My dedication to our community runs deep, from my years serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Shoreline Taskforce, the Capital Improvement Committee, and the Comprehensive Plan committee. I have the honor of serving as your Mayor since 2019. Together, we have completed so many vital quality-of-life projects, but our work is not finished. There are still important initiatives that we need to get started and others we must bring across the finish line. My goal remains simple: to make our Island the very best place to live, work, and play.
As we look to the future of our community, one of my key focuses is the rehabilitation of the gateway median to South Padre Island. First impressions matter, and I want to ensure our entrance truly reflects the natural beauty of the place we call home. I am championing an approximate $1,205,000 investment to completely revitalize this corridor. By adding native Texas trees, beautiful new plantings, and updated lighting, we will transform this gateway into a welcoming beacon for residents and visitors alike. This project is a direct investment in our community's pride and our local environment, and I am ready to get to work to make this vision a reality for all of us.
One of my top priorities is seeing the completion of our Wind and Water Sports Park. Right now, our city outright owns 119.43 acres of land designated for this project. This is our land, and it is time we fully deliver on its promise for our community. If re-elected, I will focus on getting this park completed. We have a wonderful opportunity right in front of us with these 119.43 acres, and I am committed to making sure we finish what we started. This park matters to our community, and by working together, we can turn this public space into a vibrant reality that we can all enjoy. I am ready to get to work and see this project through to the finish line.
When I look at our community, I see so much potential for us to come together, stay active, and enjoy our shared spaces. That is why I am fully committed to a very practical, positive project for our neighborhood: developing three pickleball courts at Water Tower Park. This is a straightforward, meaningful way to improve our local park and provide a space where neighbors of all ages can gather, exercise, and connect. If you re-elect me, I will focus on delivering real results like this project at Water Tower Park. I believe in practical leadership that focuses on our actual neighborhood spaces. I ask for your support to help me bring these three new courts to our community.
When we think about what makes our community a great place to live, we have to look at the very foundation of our neighborhoods. That is why one of my key focuses is to continue the investment in our curb and gutter side streets. Our local streets are the roadways we use every single day, and they deserve reliable, long-term care. By continuing to invest in proper curbs and gutters for our side streets, we are protecting our neighborhoods, supporting our local infrastructure, and ensuring our roads remain safe and well-maintained for everyone. I believe in focusing on these essential improvements because they directly impact our daily lives and our community's future. I am ready to do this important work for our neighborhoods.
Our beaches are the very heart of our community, and protecting them is one of my absolute top priorities. If elected, I will focus my energy on vital beach renourishment efforts to keep our coastline strong. I will continue working closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the General Land Office to ensure we are actively placing dredge material back onto our beaches. This collaborative work is essential for preserving our shores, and it takes steady, dedicated leadership to keep these partnerships moving forward. I continue to stand up for our community, protect our beautiful coast, and ensure our beaches remain a vibrant resource for all of us to enjoy.
Have questions or suggestions? I would love to hear from you!
